🏡 Why choose The Maryland and Delaware Group of Long & Foster Property Management?

➡️ Our Property Managers are licensed.

🏡 A frequently asked question that we get is, "Do you have to be a licensed real estate agent to be a property manager in the state of Maryland?" And the answer is no. You do not.

🔸 There currently are no rules, regulations or laws that require property managers in the state of Maryland to be licensed, or property management companies to be licensed. Now, in the next few years we can see the trend that the Maryland Real Estate Commission is headed towards. They want to push for some sort of rules and regulations with property management. However, at this time there's nothing.

🔸 So what does that mean for a homeowner if there is an issue that comes about at their property, with their property manager? The only recourse they have at this time is to file something with the Maryland Attorney General's Office, and that's it. And for real estate agents, we have to abide by a code of ethics, and we have, ultimately, if something was to ever kick up, we have the Maryland Real Estate Commission that we have to stand in front of if there was ever an issue.

🔸 So this is such an important issue when you're looking for a property manager. You need to ask that question, "Are you licensed?" Because there's people, there's companies that don't understand real estate law. They don't understand real estate in general, and they're running companies that typically are not on the up and up. So be sure to ask that question.

🔸 Make sure you're doing your research before you select a property management company.
